The first explores resonance and colour, the second concentrates minds on pitch and the third is about repetition. They whet the appetite for Feldman’s shimmeringly lovely final piano piece, Palais de Mari (1986). George Crumb’s pulsing Processional (1983) and Messiaen-like A Little Suite for Christmas, AD 1979 intervene.
