Owen Elsley is a singer and composer, originally from Newcastle, NSW. As a composer, Owen has been commissioned and performed by groups including Gondwana Choirs (including a 2017 commission that was premiered in the Sydney Opera House by Gondwana Choirs and the Vienna Boys’ Choir); The Song Company; The Choir of St James’ Church King St; The Leichhardt Espresso Chorus; and Moorambilla Voices. In 2016 he was won the Liturgical Division of the ACU’s Isabel Menton Composition Award and in 2018 was awarded the UNSW Willgoss Choral Composition Prize. Owen has sung as an ensemble member and soloist with many of Sydney’s professional groups including The Song Company (Young Artist, 2014; Guest Artist, 2015-17; Tenor, 2018-19); the Choir of St James’ Church, King St; Sydney Antiphony; Pinchgut Opera; and Cantillation. Owen has also completed his A.Mus.A in Piano Performance and been an actor, director and repetiteur for numerous dramatic productions. He is currently studying for his Master of Music at the University of Cambridge.
