Gustavo Díaz-Jerez

born: 27 February 1970

Gustavo Díaz-Jerez is one of the leading composers and pianists in Spain. His compositional output spans all genres, from solo works to opera. His works have been premiered by prestigious ensembles and orchestras. His orchestral work Ymarxa, commissioned by the XXVII Canary Islands Music Festival, was premiered by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Charles Dutoit. In 2018 took place the premiered of his first opera, La casa imaginaria.

An outstanding performer of Spanish music, he has been awarded the Albéniz Medal for his recording of Iberia. His CD releases include a monographic CD with his piano works, Metaludios for piano. He has also recorded for the first time Albéniz’ Iberia in HD video. He is also the author of software program FractMus, dedicated to algorithmic composition. His articles on the subject have been published by prestigious magazines such as MIT’s Leonardo Music Journal.
