Malcolm Creese (double bass)

Malcolm Creese is one of Europe’s best-known double bass players, combining jazz and classical performances with film, television and recording work. He originally studied cello at London’s Guildhall School of Music, but his love of jazz resulted in a switch to double bass in his mid-twenties. In 1991 he became Cleo Laine and John Dankworth’s bass player, also playing with Stan Tracey and other stars of the jazz world. In 2001 he formed the trio Acoustic Triangle with pianist John Horler and saxophonist Tim Garland; their debut album Interactions was widely acclaimed, leading to an active programme of concerts and recordings, including recent collaborations with the King’s Singers.
