Martha McLorinan (alto)

Martha McLorinan trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and has won the Thelma King Award and Royal Over-Seas League prize. She now enjoys a career of solo oratorio, opera, consort and recording work. Recent highlights include Handel’s Messiah at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie (Academy of Ancient Music/Nigel Short), Brahms’s Liebeslieder waltzes at Kings Place (The Sixteen/Harry Christophers), Bach’s St John Passion at the Zaryadye Hall in Moscow (Taverner Consort & Players/Andrew Parrott), and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Second Witch) for the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall (La Nuova Musica/David Bates).

Her discography includes Nunes Garcia’s Missa pastoril (Brazilian Adventures, Ex Cathedra/Jeffrey Skidmore), Bingham’s The drowned lovers (Music of the Spheres, Tenebrae/Nigel Short) and Byrd’s 1588 Psalmes, Sonets & Songs of sadnes and pietie (Fretwork/David Skinner).
