Edith Barlow (soprano)

Edith Barlow completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne and a conducting mentorship with John Hopkins O.B.E. She sang in Musical Theatre in Asia and Australia before continuing her opera and classical music studies at the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she was the recipient of the Isabel Lucas singing prize. There she performed as Tina in the contemporary opera Flight by Jonathan Dove, Berenice in Handel’s Scipio and Frau Flut in Nicolai’s Die Lustige Weiber von Windsor. She also completed an intensive Italian course at the L’Università per Stranieri in Perugia, Italy.

During her time in London Edith played many operatic roles and also recorded Schumann’s Opus 29 with Graham Johnson for Hyperion.

Edith continues to study privately with the conductor and pianist Thomas Schuback, and mezzo soprano Ameral Gunson.
