Californian actress and vocalist Alysha Umphress studied at the Boston Conservatory. Since making her Broadway debut in the Grammy Award-winning 2010 stage adaptation of
American Idiot, Umphress has starred as Hildy in Lyric Theatre’s 2014 production of
On the Town and appeared in
Priscilla Queen of the Desert,
On A Clear Day You Can See Forever, and
Bring It On: The Musical, amongst others. Off Broadway, Umphress has performed alongside Sam Smith, John Legend, Mumford and Sons, Carlos Santana, Brandy Carlyle, and Green Day, as well as at Grammy and Tony Award ceremonies, and on
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,
The Late Night Show with David Letterman,
Good Morning America, and
The Today Show.
In concert, Umphress has appeared with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra under Michael Tilson Thomas, the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle, and the Boston Pops Orchestra under Keith Lockhart. Her TV and film appearances include the role of Misty in The Climb, and features in Bonding, Law and Order: SVU, and Royal Pains. Umphress released her debut solo album, I’ve Been Played: Alysha Umphress Swings Jeff Blumenkrantz, in 2015.
