He came down from heaven, sent from the
Father’s citadel; he entered through the Virgin’s ear
into our world, clad in a purple cloak.
And he departed through the golden gate,
the light and glory of the whole edifice of the world.
The Lord like a bridegroom coming out
of his chamber.
And he departed through the golden gate,
the light and glory of the whole edifice of the world.
Make pure our bodies and souls, O God, this day,
that protected by thy right hand we may praise together
the creator of the edifice of the world.
Glory be to the Father, and the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
And he departed through the golden gate,
the light and glory of the whole edifice of the world.
Guard thy household, O Christ,
who born of the gracious Virgin Mary hast redeemed it
by thy death that it may acknowledge thee
for the creator of the edifice of the world.
He came down from heaven, sent from the
Father’s citadel; he entered through the Virgin’s ear
into our world, clad in a purple cloak.
And he departed through the golden gate,
the light and glory of the whole edifice of the world.
That our sins be forgiven, we pray with devout mind,
O glory of the world, noble offspring of King David,
whom the chaste virgin Mary brought forth to the world
by the grace of the Highest Father;
may his birth save all people throughout all ages,
and may he today deign to show favour to us
and the whole edifice of the world.
