Peccavi super numerum

composer
author of text

Peccavi super numerum is a fine early example of Byrd’s mastery of setting penitential texts in a deeply affective manner, the text in this case being partly from the Prayer of Manasseh, an apocryphal ode appended to the Book of Psalms.
