Good-will to men, and peace on Earth

First line:
Behold a lucid Light appears
composer
author of text
circa 1840; from Ralph Dunstan's The Cornish Song Book

Metrical devices familiar from medieval soundscapes characterise Dobrinka Tabakova’s Good-will to men, and peace on Earth, and the composer achieves a ‘playful element’ (in her words): the traditions of conviviality associated with carols (again traceable to their medieval origins) are here reinforced by the use of clapping as another component in the texture.
