The Lord's Prayer

First line:
Our Father, which art in heaven
composer
author of text
Matthew 6: 9-13; Book of Common Prayer, 1548

The Lord’s Prayer is a text many listeners will be familiar with from childhood. Parry’s response is one of his customary sympathetic homophony—its musical beauty enhanced by the careful melodic writing of the lower parts who might reasonably consider their role equally melodic as the soprano voice.
