15th century

Matthew Martin is currently Director of Music at Keble College, Oxford, and is rapidly establishing himself as a versatile composer of choral and instrumental music. His exuberant writing for choir and organ reveals his mastery of these idioms in this spiky setting of a fifteenth-century macaronic carol, written in a mixture of Middle English and Latin. It was commissioned for the 2014 Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in York Minster.
