5 Divertimentos harmônicos

composer
author of text

Some of the earliest Brazilian colonial music is found in the north-eastern state of Pernambuco, in the city of Recife, where Luís Álvares Pinto was active as a composer and teacher, writing several didactic works including the intriguingly titled Sight-reading without confusion! His charming Beata virgo and Oh! Pulchra es are from Divertimentos harmônicos (‘Harmonic amusements’).
