O holy city, seen of John

author of text

Howells composed a small number of hymn tunes for congregational use. However few of them have been published in mainstream hymnals and only Michael (All my hope on God is founded) has become well-known. Sancta civitas (O Holy city, seen of John, words by W Russell Bowie) was one of three tunes commissioned in 1962 for ‘Hymns for Church and School’.
