Stella, quam viderant Magi

The short setting of the Epiphany text Stella, quam viderant Magi is written for four closely spaced voices (a voce pari). Its chief moment of textual interest is the final representation of the Magi ‘rejoicing with great joy’, with more rapid syncopation and runs of semiquavers.

La brève mise en musique du texte de l’Epiphanie Stella, quam viderant Magi s’adresse à quatre voix peu espacées (a voce pari). Regnart porte un intérêt tout particulier à la représentation finale des Mages «saisis d’une grande joie», avec des syncopes plus véloces et des passages rapides en doubles croches.

Die knappe Vertonung des Dreikönigstags-Textes Stella, quam viderant Magi wurde für vier eng liegende Stimmen (a voce pari) geschrieben. Ihr Hauptmoment textlichen Interesses ist die abschließende Repräsentierung der Weisen, die „hocherfreut“ waren, durch mehr rasche Synkopen und Sechzehntelläufe.
