On paper, 28 solo guitar dance movements by the post-Renaissance composer Francesco Corbetta (c1615-81) may appear rather too much of a good thing. But that doesn't reckon for the compelling artistry of William Carter, who makes this often complex music sound disarmingly simple and natural, making each and every movement a unique and treasurable listening experience. Perfect late-evening listening.
