Bloch: Schelomo & Suite for viola

Bloch’s ‘Hebrew Rhapsody’ Schelomo famously casts the cello as ‘the incarnation of King Solomon’ (the composer’s own description) and is the stand-out work from his ‘Jewish cycle’ for cello and orchestra. Here it sits happily alongside a new version of the Suite for viola and piano, skilfully reworked for cello and orchestra.
