This performance of Shostakovich's biting Symphony No 5 was recorded live at the Barbican in September 2016, conductor Gianandrea Noseda fully exploiting the conflicts underlying this work of enforced celebration. Previously issued in 2018, it is now coupled with a new recording of the composer's Symphony No 1.
