Scriabin: Symphonies Nos 1 & 2

Valery Gergiev and the London Symphony Orchestra continue their revelatory Scriabin cycle. The highly original Symphony No 1 was composed at the turn of the twentieth century, its six movements coming to a rousing conclusion with a monumental choral finale, while the somewhat more restrained Symphony No 2 contains echoes of Strauss, Tchaikovsky and Wagner—alongside Scriabin’s deeply personal sound.
