The Wand of Youth and Nursery suites were compiled by Elgar from rediscovered youthful musings: an innocence of melodic invention tempered by compositional experience. Also recorded are the charming Salut d’amour and Chanson de nuit, works which did so much to establish their composer in a nation's consciousness.
