The Tallis Scholars, Peter Phillips (conductor)
Together with Josquin, one of the finest composers of his day and also, it seems, one of the most prolific, with a vast array of sacred and secular works (in several languages) to his credit. This motet in two parts, setting two passages from the Song of Songs, must rank as one of Isaac’s masterpieces, so perfectly does the music reflect the inward fervour and sensuous rapture of the words.
