Fauré’s Romances sans paroles were probably Chaminade’s model in the early, lyrical Pièce romantique, where the elegant melody is mainly carried by the left hand against lapping off-beat quavers in the right.

Les Romances sans paroles de Fauré sont probablement le modèle pour Pièce romantique, morceau lyrique des débuts de Chaminade, dans lequel la main gauche est la principale interprète de l’élégante mélodie en opposition aux cascades de croches originales de la main droite.
