Der Schmetterling ist in die Rose verliebt, Op 4 No 6

composer
author of text

Dependant on symbol is Der Schmetterling ist in die Rose verliebt Op 4 No 6 where the lover observes the natural attraction of the butterfly to the rose, and the sun to the butterfly. But who is in love with the ‘soft red rose’, the lover asks vainly (of his own beloved)? The nightingale or the evening star? No answer comes and he is left to contemplate the symbols of his own torment.
