Track 14 on CDH55148 [1'25] Helios (Hyperion's budget label)
Bon jour mon cœur
EnglishFrançaisDeutsch
Goudimel had the misfortune to be killed at Lyons in anti-Protestant riots in the aftermath of the St Bartholomew’s Day massacre. Primarily a composer of church music (at first for the Latin rite), Goudimel is famous for his four-part setting of the Geneva Psalter. However, this delightful chanson is a worthy counterpart to Lassus’ better known setting of the same text.
