We know virtually nothing about Francesco Maria Marini except that he was working in San Marino in 1637, though the style of his music suggests that he had Venetian connections. His fine setting of the hymn
Jesu dulcis memoria is unusual in that it is through-composed, which allows him to represent the contrasted emotions of each verse vividly in the music.
