First line:
Ach, um deine feuchten Schwingen
4 December 1836
author of text

This song was Fanny’s second setting of the poem and probably written before Felix’s version. The famous poem is much more well known in the setting by Schubert and it is interesting that Fanny chose the same key of B flat major for her version. The accompaniment evokes the soft arpeggiation of a lute as Suleika begs the West Wind to carry her message of love.
