As well as composing ‘Just a-wearyin’ for you’, Carrie Jacobs-Bond wrote both words and music of this enduring favourite. She first set a large part of the text to a different melody, titled ‘A Memory’. Then, just weeks later, came this classic version, composed at the Mission Inn, Riverdale, California, in 1909. It was first sung by the American baritone David Bispham.
