Jonny Heykens (1884–1945) was a light music specialist, born in the Dutch town of Groningen. A violin pupil of Eugène Ysaÿe at the Brussels Conservatory, he played in various orchestras before founding his own orchestra in Groningen in 1914. Among his many light music compositions, it was above all his Ständchen
(‘Serenade’) which won wide international success between the Wars.
