Movement 1: Andante affettuoso
Movement 2: Allegro giusto

String Quintet in B minor, G350
Thirty-two of Boccherini’s 110 quintets with two cellos are called ‘Quintettinos’, having only two (or a maximum of three) movements, this one dating from 1789. A desperate melancholy pervades the Andante affetuoso even when, true to form, Boccherini escapes B minor as quickly as possible and D major becomes a mask for an assumed jollity. The impetuous second movement Allegro giusto contains a quasi-trio section (two cellos and viola) in G major marked flautato, sounding like distant melancholic flutes. This work has never been published.
