Polka in A flat, RO275
EnglishFrançaisDeutsch
Like its companion above, this polka has little in common with those of the Strausses or Smetana. The Joplinesque cakewalk incorporates springboard leaps and sparkling Gottschalkian runs for the right hand, way beyond the scope of the later composer. Its central section suddenly admits an insidious habanera (the native Cuban dance with which Gottschalk was on intimate terms).
