Mazurka in F sharp

This is the fashionable European Gottschalk, with some appropiately Chopinesque figurations and runs. It is in the melancholy key of F sharp minor and is one of several in this form composed during his Paris days, a number of which have since been lost.

Ici nous avons le Gottschalk européen à la mode, avec quelques embellissements et roulades Chopinesques bien choisis. Ce morceau est dans le ton mélancolique de fa dièse mineur et l’un parmi plusieurs dans cette forme qui furent composés durant son séjour à Paris. Un certain nombre de ces morceaux ont été perdus.

Hier haben wir es mit dem modebewußten europäischen Gottschalk zu tun, der einige Chopin ebenbürtige Figurationen und Läufe vorlegt. Das Stück steht in der melancholischen Tonart fis-Moll und ist eine von mehreren, teilweise verlorengegangenen Kompositionen, die er in dieser Form während seiner Jahre in Paris verfaßte.
