Romance in E flat, RO270
EnglishFrançaisDeutsch
A memorable chorale-like melody is the subject of this unusually (for Gottschalk) subdued piece. Like the Chanson de Gitano and Mazurkait was left in manuscript and not published until after the centenary of the composer’s death. Robert Offergeld, who is to Gottschalk what Köchel is to Mozart, listed them in his Centennial Catalogue of Gottschalk’s work. All three compositions (along with four others), edited by Neil Ratliff and Richard Jackson, appeared in The Little Book of Louis Moreau Gottschalk.
