In Cloris all soft charms agree, Z384

composer
Choice Ayres V, 1684
author of text

This appeared in the fifth book of Choice Ayres in 1684 as a three-verse strophic song. Purcell appears to have changed John Howe’s text in a number of places, as comparison with the version of the poem printed the next year in Aphra Behn’s Miscellany shows. Cloris’s universal attraction to men has its down side.
