author of text

Printed in 1681 in the third book of Playford’s Choice Ayres and Songs, in the ironic little poem ‘How I sigh’ the lady sighs as she thinks of her faithless lover, but she will put up with his infidelities and falsehoods for the sake of their lovemaking.
