Love's Lament
A setting of Christina Rossetti, Love’s Lament (1918) is one of Head’s earliest songs and is dedicated to his mother. It is a heartfelt threnody with a stark funereal tread and falling chromatic melodic phrases in both voice and piano which create a powerful expression of grief.
