The marriage of two friends in 1998 provided the perfect opportunity to set a text very dear to Dubra, one that he sees as expressing love and hope. Although
Ubi caritas forms a part of the Maundy Thursday liturgy it also conveys ideal sentiments for a marriage ceremony. The soprano melody is simple and built around thirds, yet with the contours suggesting a brimming over of emotion.
