John Rutter’s Christmas contribution for 2015 may not at first seem very seasonal but the second section of the main work is a setting of the Apple Tree Carol and the last two items on the programme are an Advent and Christmas carol respectively. The music, in Rutter’s familiar style, loved by many but disliked by some traditionalists, could not be better performed unless it be on the King’s recording of All bells in Paradise.
