Peñalosa served as singer at the court of Aragon and in 1517 became a Papal singer in Rome. By 1525 he reappears in the records of Seville Cathedral and was buried there upon his death three years later. This crucifixion motet issues from the same source.

Peñasola fut au service de la cour d’Aragon comme chanteur et en 1517 devint chanteur papal à Rome. En 1525 il est à nouveau mentionné dans les registres de la Cathédrale de Séville où il est enterré à sa mort trois ans après. Ce motet de crucifixion dérive de la même source.

Peñalosa war Sänger am Hofe von Aragon und wurde 1517 Sänger für den Papst in Rom. 1525 wird er wieder in den Aufzeichnungen der Kathedrale von Sevilla erwähnt, und er wurde drei Jahre nach seinem Tode dort begraben. Diese Kreuzigungsmotette stammt aus derselben Quelle.
