This is the original text of the flamboyant and witty Grande Valse di bravura (subtitled Le bal de Berne in one of the early editions). This is of the musical and pianistic stamp which first made people pay attention to Liszt, and which, as so often, contains both the public and private humours of his musical expression, where immanent and daring originality is garbed in a glittering carapace.
