‘Stunningly beautiful’ (Organists' Review)

The urgency of the almost madrigalian treatment of the passage ‘transeat a me calix iste’ in the responsory In monte Oliveti, for instance, contrasts dramatically with the stillness of the verse ‘Vigilate, et orate’. In accordance with documented practice at both the royal chapel in Lisbon and Vila Viçosa, the choir is accompanied by the organ.
