This was an incredible opportunity—to work with the Genesis Foundation to write music to set the powerful prayer of St Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, ‘Stay with me, Lord’. In its original 2008 version Stay with me, Lord was written for piano accompaniment, but here strings and harp replace the piano, adding further to the richness of the words, which have been so beautifully developed and poeticized by Ben Dunwell.
