Reviews

‘Another invaluable issue from Hyperion’ (Music and Musicians)
Goodmorrow dates from 1929 and was written at the request of Sir Walford Davies for the choir of St George's Chapel, Windsor, to sing at a service celebrating King George V's recovery from a serious illness. The words are by George Gascoigne, a Tudor poet, and Elgar went to one of his own early hymn tunes for the music. He conducted the first performance, which was broadcast.
