Introduction  EnglishFrançaisDeutsch
Steven Isserlis inaugurates our new releases for 2014—with regular collaborator Robert Levin at the fortepiano, his Beethoven Cello Sonatas includes all the other pieces for cello and piano and makes for an exciting January Record of the Month. Isserlis also makes a guest appearance on a new album of Piano Music by Julius Isserlis; these wonderful, almost Chopin-esque miniatures have been lovingly restored to the repertoire by Sam Haywood in his first recording for Hyperion. Another thrilling new artist is Mahan Esfahani: his restless championing of all-things-harpsichord reaches new heights with the six CPE Bach Württemberg Sonatas.

Rejoice, the Lord is king! is a wonderful new recording from Westminster Abbey Choir—an array of glorious hymns, perennial favourites all, enthusiastically sung under the watchful direction of James O'Donnell. Robert Quinney is at the organ.

Re-issued this month are Stravinsky Les Noces from the New London Chamber Choir and Voronezh Chamber Choir, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra's expansive Symphonic Poems by William Wallace.
