John Mac Master (tenor)

Canadian tenor John Mac Master studied at the Institute for Dramatic Voices in Carmel, California and has rapidly begun to establish himself in the lyrico spinto repertoire. In North America Mr Mac Master has sung Peter Grimes in Detroit and Montreal, Erik (Der fliegende Holländer) in Vancouver, his first Laca in Jenůfa for the Canadian Opera Company and Manrico (Il trovatore) in Ottawa. In Europe Mr Mac Master has appeared at the Paris Opera (Der Rosenkavalier) and the Vienna Volksoper (Brauenfel’s Die Vögel, Grigori in Boris Godunov and Offenbach’s (Ritter Blaubart). As resident artist with New York’s AmorArtis Orchestra and Choir, he has appeared as tenor soloist in a wide repertoire ranging from Verdi’s Requiem, Britten’s War Requiem, Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ and the American premiere of Donizetti’s Miserere. John Mac Master’s recordings include Langgaard’s Antichrist (Danachord), Handel’s Berenice with Rudolph Palmer and the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra (Newport Classics) and Saint Saëns’ Requiem with Somary conducting the AmorArtis Orchestra (Premier Records).
